ABOUT US

Guaranteeing Children's Rights

Tiberias Initiative for Children (TIC Rwanda) is a non-profit organization that advances the rights of disadvantaged children in Rwanda—especially children with disabilities—by ensuring access to health, education, and inclusive development.
Decades after the genocide of Tutsis in Rwanda, many children with disabilities and other vulnerable children still face major barriers in accessing their fundamental rights — including education, healthcare, protection, and social inclusion. TIC was founded to help close these gaps, working hand in hand with families, communities, and partners to ensure that no child is left behind. Our work is rooted in a child rights-based approach, centered on the child and their family, and aligned with Rwanda’s National Strategy for Transformation (NST2) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

    Beneficiary

    My name is Marie Louise. I lost my sight completely at the age of 12. But I was blessed that God placed Tiberias Initiative for Children (TIC) on my path; it has been like a parent to me since my youth. The team reached out and supported me throughout my studies. Thanks to this support, I worked with perseverance and achieved excellent results, even ranking among the top students in the country.

    Today, I am a secondary-school teacher and I pursue my goals with confidence. My journey shows that no child with a disability is incapable of going far, provided they are not abandoned or excluded. The support and love we receive can change a life from childhood onward.

    Two Wheelchairs to Ease Mothers’ Burden
    Moved by TIC’s free physiotherapy outreach in Kigali’s outskirts, a parent donated two wheelchairs for children with disabilities. Chosen by our physiotherapist according to urgent need, the chairs will improve mobility and ease the load on mothers who have long carried their children on their backs.

     Saving to Live Better: An Inclusive Journey of Parents
    Savings and credit groups in Gihogwe, Kabuye, Jabana, and Bweramvura closed their semester and redistributed over 13 million RWF to members. These funds help pay school fees, cover healthcare, and launch small income-generating activities—strengthening families’ autonomy.

    Learning Beyond the Classroom Walls
    On June 5, 2025, TIC Inclusive School’s 4th–6th graders visited national museums and Kigali’s Car-Free Zone, sharing a meal with their teachers. Field learning broadens horizons, fuels curiosity, and anchors knowledge. A good experience for children from the peripheries.
