{"id":153,"date":"2025-06-15T16:13:53","date_gmt":"2025-06-15T16:13:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ticrwanda.org\/?page_id=153"},"modified":"2025-06-15T16:35:45","modified_gmt":"2025-06-15T16:35:45","slug":"what-we-do","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ticrwanda.org\/?page_id=153","title":{"rendered":"What we do"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Tiberias Initiative for Children (TIC Rwanda)<\/strong> works to promote the <strong>rights, well-being, and full inclusion<\/strong> of disadvantaged children in Rwanda, with a special focus on <strong>children with disabilities (CWD)<\/strong>.<br>Our work is rooted in a <strong>child rights-based approach<\/strong>, centered on the <strong>child and their family<\/strong>, and aligned with <strong>Rwanda\u2019s National Strategy for Transformation (NST2)<\/strong> and the <strong>Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We act through <strong>four strategic domains of action<\/strong>, and we have developed a portfolio of <strong>five programmes<\/strong> to implement this vision \u2014 combining both <strong>school-based<\/strong> and <strong>community-based<\/strong> interventions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Our Domains of Action<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Inclusive Education and Child Development<\/strong><br>We promote <strong>inclusive and quality education<\/strong> for children with disabilities and other disadvantaged children, through inclusive schools, specialized facilities, school-based rehabilitation, and strong family and community engagement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Health, Rehabilitation, and Well-being<\/strong><br>We work to improve the <strong>health, nutrition, and rehabilitation<\/strong> of children, with dedicated services for CWD and comprehensive support for families to access healthcare and community-based rehabilitation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Family Empowerment and Livelihoods<\/strong><br>We support the <strong>economic empowerment of families<\/strong>, promote <strong>gender equality<\/strong>, and foster sustainable livelihoods, recognizing that strong and resilient families are essential to sustainable child development.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Advocacy, Knowledge, and Data for Change<\/strong><br>We engage in <strong>advocacy<\/strong>, <strong>research<\/strong>, and <strong>knowledge generation<\/strong> to influence policies, promote child rights, and ensure that children\u2019s voices and experiences inform inclusive development at all levels.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Our Programmes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TIC\u2019s programme portfolio includes <strong>five strategic programmes<\/strong> designed to advance child rights, inclusion, and well-being in Rwanda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At present, our <strong>core programme, Mwana Ukunzwe (Beloved Child Program)<\/strong>, is <strong>fully operational in Gasabo District<\/strong>, with <strong>school-based<\/strong> and <strong>community-based activities<\/strong> implemented through TIC School and community outreach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The other four programmes are <strong>new initiatives<\/strong> identified in our <strong>Strategic Plan 2024\u20132028<\/strong>. While they are designed to <strong>include beneficiaries in Gasabo District<\/strong>, they are also intended to <strong>extend beyond Gasabo<\/strong>, reaching <strong>other districts<\/strong> and <strong>target populations<\/strong> in collaboration with local partners and national stakeholders. We are actively seeking <strong>funding partners<\/strong> to progressively launch and scale these programmes over the coming years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1\ufe0f<\/strong><strong>\u20e3 Mwana Ukunzwe (Beloved Child Program)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our <strong>core programme<\/strong>, supporting the <strong>holistic development<\/strong> of disadvantaged children and families. It integrates <strong>inclusive education<\/strong>, <strong>health and rehabilitation<\/strong>, <strong>nutrition<\/strong>, <strong>psychosocial support<\/strong>, <strong>family engagement<\/strong>, and <strong>community inclusion<\/strong> \u2014 through both <strong>school-based<\/strong> and <strong>community-based interventions<\/strong> in <strong>Gasabo District<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2\ufe0f<\/strong><strong>\u20e3 Inclusive Futures Academy &amp; Social Inclusion Hub<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A flagship initiative to develop <strong>inclusive education infrastructure<\/strong> and services for CWD.
